Offering High-Quality Nanocrystals and Nanocrystal Based Products to Researchers and Industry Around the World

Brief History:

Founded in 2001, Nanomaterials and Nanofabrication Laboratories (NN-Labs) focuses on production, processing and applications of semiconductor nanocrystals and dendron ligands. As a privately held company, NN-Labs is a member of the Genesis Technology Incubator at the University of Arkansas. NN-Labs became business active in 2002 upon the receipt of the company's first Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract awarded by the National Science Foundation. Since 2002 the company has received a multitude of Phase I and Phase II SBIR contracts from various government agencies to aid in funding the development of a wide range of nanocrystals and nanocrystal applications.

Present and Future:

At present, NN-Labs offers four standardized nanocrystal product lines as well as custom orders consisting of five other product lines. In terms of materials, the company is presently focused on two nanocrystal product lines under development, Fe3O4 magnetic nanocrystals and non-cadmium based quantum dots, doped quantum dots (d-dots). Both product lines hold tremendous promise for the future of nanocrystal based applications, chiefly due to the intrinsic non-toxic nature of both materials. In order to transition from being just a materials supplier to being a materials and end-user products supplier, NN-Labs anticipates joint ventures that will allow our patent and patent pending technologies to be incorporated into devices and detection methods that are currently under development at NN-Labs and for those that have yet to be actualized. NN-Labs anticipates having the capacity to produce a variety of commercially available end-user products, in addition to our growing repretoire of nanomaterials.

Our Mission:

  • To become one of the leading companies for the commercialization of cutting edge nanotechnologies developed in an academic environment, such as solid state lighting, solar cells, LEDs, and a variety of biomedical applications.

  • To act as a leading firm to promote environmentally friendly nanotechnologies for the world.
